Supporting Homeless Youth Programs.
Doors of Change, a nonprofit committed to solving youth homelessness through self-sufficiency, safe housing, life skills, education, training and support services recently hosted its annual 2016 Diamond and Pearls Presidential Gala Dinner & Auction in rancho Santa Fe. Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the organization establishes relationships with homeless youth and helps better their lives and get them off the streets. Since its inception, Doors of Change has helped place more than 1,800 homeless youth in long-term safe housing, and served more than 2,800 through its Taking Music & Art to the Streets program.
“We are grateful for all the support we received,” Jeffrey Sitcov, founder and president, Doors of Change shared with Giving Back Magazine. “With the money raised from our annual gala, we will be able to help even more youth avoid homelessness – an imperative goal as San Diego is currently ranked sixth in the nation for homeless youth.”
Zephyr, a real estate development company that has multiple residential projects complete and under construction throughout the region, including The Park, Bankers Hill – ultra-luxury condos being built in Bankers Hill, directly across from Balboa Park – is one of the supporters of the organization’s mission, and was a major gala sponsor.
“Zephyr was looking to support an organization that makes a direct, positive impact in the community,” said Zephyr’s Co-CEO Brad Termini. “Our staff regularly participates in the organization’s outreach program, and it is gratifying to see the progress being made in the lives of the young people we meet.”
Doors of Change celebrated another milestone earlier this year. In March, the organization held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally open the House of Self-Sufficiency, which will house four homeless young adults as they lay a foundation for a brighter future.
