What is CECUT ?

CECUT is a Mexican cultural center on the border, founded on October 20, 1982. It is the institution that brings together the widest and most diverse cultural offerings in the northwest of Mexico, and the only facility of the Ministry of Culture, formerly the National Council for Culture and the Arts, outside the country’s capital.

It is committed to meeting the artistic and cultural needs of our region, through programs that include various artistic endeavors and themes of traditional and contemporary culture.

Its facilities include the following: IMAX Dome, Museum of the Californias, Performance Hall, The Cube (three galleries for international level art exhibitions), Temporary Exhibition Halls, Cineteca, Aquarium, Rehearsal Rooms, among others.

Totaling an area of 3.5 hectares, located two kilometers from the border with the United States, it is the most recognized symbol for Tijuana and something with which the people of Tijuana identify.

In 2015, it counted on 1,708,974 visitors. This figure translates into a greater commitment by the institution to maintain a high-quality agenda. Dance, theater, popular music and classical music concerts, literature, exhibitions, conferences, educational films in IMAX format, art cinema and publications, are some of the attractions that provide a rich artistic and cultural offer.
